Berne Museums Night 2024 at the UPU

This year, as we commemorate a century and a half of our organization, the UPU is honoured to participate in the Berne Museums Night. We invite you to join us for this special occasion as museums open their doors to welcome the public after dark.

The UPU will welcome the public with a philatelic exhibition, showcasing selected artefacts for this exclusive event. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a diverse range of activities, including watching excerpts from renowned films, sending personalized postcards, participating in interactive mini plenary sessions tailored for children, and savouring international culinary delights from Argentina and Greece. The evening will culminate with a disco party.

Highlighted activities:
 

18.00 – 22.00

• Excerpts from famous films

Watch film clips from well-known movies with mail carriers as the protagonist – " Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis/Welcome to the Sticks", "Il Postino", "Klaus", "The Postman", "The Lunchbox" and more – on the big screen.
 

18.00 – 21.00

• Send a postcard (in partnership with Swiss Post)

Send a postcard with a photo of yourself, your family or your friends by post, with a special stamp.  

18.30 – 20.30

• Mini plenary sessions for children

Step into the shoes of a delegate of an international organization and ask questions about the Post in the large conference room. Four short mock plenary sessions will be held to discuss and take a vote on a proposal to change the colour of the packaging used to transport toys. 

21:00 –

• Disco party

​Dance to the sounds of DJ Rumba at the international disco. Drinks will be available to purchase.

Philatelic exhibition on the 150th Anniversary of the UPU  

Discover unusual postal items from all over the world, from stamps to works of art dating back to 1947. You will also be able to admire a unique selection from the UPU archives of more than 8,000 stamps from as far back as 1840 (including some from countries or territories that no longer exist).

Argentinian delicatessen and traditional Greek food 

A food truck will be serving traditional Greek dishes and Argentinian empanadas.
