Renewal of MOU between the UPU and OTIF

Renewal of memorandum of understanding (MOU) to strengthen formal relations between the UPU and OTIF

The Intergovernmental Organisation for International Carriage by Rail (OTIF) is based in Berne (Switzerland) and promotes, improves and facilitates international traffic by rail, in particular by establishing systems of uniform law. The UPU works closely with OTIF to support member countries in activities relating to the transportation of mail by rail, including operational, regulatory and safety matters.

Mr Wolfgang Küpper, OTIF Secretary General, and Mr Masahiko Metoki, UPU Director General, met at the UPU International Bureau in Berne on 26 June 2024 to renew a memorandum of understanding, in order to continue to strengthen formal relations between the two organizations. OTIF and the UPU will continue to seek assistance from each other in all areas where such collaboration is likely to bring added value to their activities.

The signature of the renewed memorandum of understanding will formalize the exchange of information and documentation, the development of joint cooperation activities and the organization of joint training courses. OTIF and the UPU will keep each other informed about relevant activities and initiatives in fields of mutual interest.
