Trade facilitation

UPU trade facilitation activities are based on a work plan approved by members.

The work plan, derived from Doha Congress resolution C 11/2012, divides these activities into the following four blocks:

The goal is to implement the UPU Easy Export programme in other regions based on the Exporta Fácil model pioneered by South American countries. As the programme does not only involve the postal sector, it needs to be developed in partnership with designated operators' respective governments within the frame-work of economic and social development and the development of micro, small and medium enterprises.

All stakeholders concerned with trade facilitation and internationalization of MSMEs must be informed and properly engaged in UPU trade facilitation activities. Seminars and workshops serve to raise awareness of issues and secure commitment for these activities. They are also useful in encouraging members to be active in trade facilitation activities and events organized by other stakeholders.

The goal is to make the postal network and supply chain more responsive to the trade facilitation and busi-ness development needs of MSMEs. This includes enhancing human resource capacity to implement easy export/easy import solutions targeted at MSMEs. These activities are to be undertaken in close collaboration with the various areas of the trade facilitation and import/export value chain: logistics and transport, payments, customs, security, e-commerce, EMS and parcels.
