The third workshop in connection with the regional project for providing quality of service improvement support in the field will take place in Thimpu, Bhutan this week.
The aim of these workshops, which stem from the Cooperation Agreement on support for quality of service improvement signed by the Asian-Pacific Postal Union and the UPU, is to put in place the technology needed for the sustainable and reliable measurement of quality of service for the letter post, parcel post and EMS services.
A special feature of this project is the forty or so milestones defined on the basis of the results expected for each country. Some of these milestones are to be achieved at the end of the workshop, others at the end of the regional project. The participating countries – Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Indonesia, Lao People's Dem. Rep., Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Sri Lanka and Thailand) – analyze and review these milestones between workshops.
In addition to the exchange of good practice between countries, training is delivered on the tools designed by the UPU, focusing in particular on the methodologies used to measure parcels service quality, set up an addressing system, introduce postcodes, and improve staff skills with regard to quality of service.
The Regional Project Manager, together with an expert from the IB, will lead this one-week workshop and, in agreement with postal operators, will prepare the milestones for the fourth session, to be held at the end of May in Jakarta, Indonesia.
