More than 300 leading Chinese express delivery operators met in Hangzhou, China, on 22 November for the 5th China International Express Delivery Conference (CIEDC). The UPU Consultative Committee (CC) was invited by the Chinese government and the Chinese Express Association to introduce the postal prosperity zones (PPZ) initiative. The UPU, in collaboration with wider postal sector players (e-commerce, technology, and freight and transport providers), is ready to enhance universal postal service provision: by seamlessly interconnecting the fully harmonized electronic advance data (EAD) available at the point of sale, designated operators can deliver business-to-customer supplies in line with consumer expectations. We are confident that the Chinese government will assist Chinese express delivery operators in joining the UPU CC in 2024 as part of their support for the PPZ initiative.
