Committed to working together

The Universal Postal Union and PostEurop, an association of 48 Posts and a UPU restricted union, renewed their commitment to continue working together to effectively implement the regional development plan for Europe and countries part of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CSI) region.

Ingmar Persson, secretary general of PostEurop, and Abdelilah Bousseta, director of development cooperation at the International Bureau, signed a joint declaration to that effect last week in Bled, Slovenia, during PostEurop’s annual plenary meeting.

Bernard Damien, chairman of PostEurop’s management board, said that the signing of the joint declaration was an important step in realizing the postal development plan by 2012.

The UPU plan defines the priority actions and projects needed to bring improvements to the mail network of a specific region.

The two organizations will work on projects such as ones designed to enhance the quality of service of international and intra-regional mail exchanges, among others.
