UPU Strategy Summit opens in Riyadh

The UPU opened its 2023 Strategy Summit today, gathering ministers, heads of postal regulators and postal CEOs to discuss “People, Purpose and Progress: A new chapter for the postal sector”.

Opening the Summit, UPU Director General Masahiko Metoki said, “I look forward to an engaging debate that is frank and honest … The time has come for us to ask some hard questions. The time has come for us to change the way we do business. The time has come for us to think of the health of our planet.”

Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics Services H.E. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser joined the UPU Director General to open the Summit. He referred to the forum as “an opportunity to discuss the present and future of our industry, and to identify opportunities for sustainable development.”

“In these challenging times, it is important that we come together and harness the power of digital technologies, data, and collaboration to drive our sector forward,” he added.

Over two half-days, postal leaders will discuss posts’ role in economic and social growth; how they can co-create value for citizens, businesses and governments; and how posts can play a greater role in supporting the global sustainable development agenda.
