Consultative Committee – CC activities

15.01.2025 — Amsterdam, October 2024

The Universal Postal Union’s (UPU) Consultative Committee (CC) played a prominent role at the World Leaders Forum (WLF) and Parcel+Post Expo in Amsterdam, where leaders from the postal and logistics sectors gathered to discuss the present and future of the industry under the theme “Smart and Collaborative Solutions to Enhance Customer Trust.” Throughout the event, the CC, the UPU’s primary platform for private-sector collaboration, offered critical insights into some of the sector’s most pressing challenges, from cross-sector partnerships to artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and women’s leadership.

29.07.2024 — Zonos, an active member of the Universal Postal Union’s Consultative Committee, recently released an insightful episode of its Decoding Cross-Border E-Commerce podcast. The episode, available on YouTube, delves into the critical work of the UPU in the global postal sector and in global logistics.

16.05.2024 — The Consultative Committee held a webinar, "Unleashing the power of branding in the postal sector", on 14 May 2024.

22.03.2024 — On 27 February, the UPU Consultative Committee held its first webinar of 2024, on the theme "Automated cyber risk management to achieve digital age resilience”.

11.03.2024 — UPU Consultative Committee member Ship2MyID successfully concluded an agreement with the Seychelles Postal Services following its participation in the Small Island Developing States Postal Forum in the Seychelles (5–7 March 2024).

14.02.2024 — The UPU held its first Arab Postal Leaders Forum in Muscat, Oman, from 12 to 14 February 2024. Several members of the Consultative Committee – Beyon Connect, e-Boks, ISITEC, Ship2MyID and Geomain – sponsored and participated in the event. The CC had a strong presence during the three busy days of networking and discussions around the theme “Arab Posts: On track towards digital transformation and innovation”. 

08.12.2023 — CC Secretary Alexander Thern-Svanberg was invited to attend the UNCTAD eWeek as a panellist in the session on “Leveraging national coordination mechanisms to support implementation of digital trade initiatives in least developed countries (EIF)”.

22.11.2023 — More than 300 leading Chinese express delivery operators met in Hangzhou, China, on 22 November for the 5th China International Express Delivery Conference (CIEDC). The UPU Consultative Committee (CC) was invited by the Chinese government and the Chinese Express Association to introduce the postal prosperity zones (PPZ) initiative. 

22.11.2023 — Ship2MyID, a member of the UPU Consultative Committee, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Asia Pacific Post Cooperative at the recent APPU Postal Business Forum (21–22 November 2023).

15.11.2023 — On 14 November 2023, the Moroccan Administration of Customs and Indirect Taxes (ADII) and Poste Maroc held a round table discussion in Rabat to discuss the creation of a postal prosperity zone (PPZ) in Morocco.

22.10.2024 — Saudi Post Logistics (SPL), with GN TEQ’s support, is revolutionizing cross-border e-commerce through advanced digital solutions. GN TEQ's innovations—automated customs clearance, AI-powered address validation, and real-time tracking—have streamlined operations, reducing onboarding time and boosting efficiency. This collaboration has led to a 98% delivery success rate and a surge in shipment volumes, showcasing GN Teq’s pivotal role in SPL’s digital transformation and the broader postal sector’s evolution.

04.10.2024 — Posti Group, Finland's national postal operator, has successfully implemented cutting-edge Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology from Escher Group to address the challenges posed by declining letter mail volumes. This strategic collaboration between the public and private sectors is revolutionizing Posti’s mail processing operations, significantly improving efficiency, accuracy, and profitability.

03.10.2024 — In a world where traditional postal services are rapidly evolving, e-Boks – a PostNord-affiliated leader in secure digital post-box solutions – is redefining communication channels for public authorities, businesses and citizens.
Its latest white paper, "Digital Postbox: Redefining Communication Solutions for Modern Postal Challenges", highlights how digitalization is transforming the postal landscape.

02.10.2024 — Escher, a leading global post and courier software and software services provider, is pleased to announce that Austria Post has chosen Escher’s next-generation Omnichannel Retail Platform to power its post office network. This decision underscores the Post’s deep commitment to enhanced customer service and future-proofing its operations.

05.09.2024 — The Skynet Project, a groundbreaking collaboration between Creative Collisions Limited (trading as MyDutyCollect) and Skynet Worldwide Express GmbH, is setting new standards for cross-border
e-commerce.

31.08.2024 — Hurricane Commerce, a member of the UPU Consultative Committee, was chosen as An Post’s data partner. With its specialized automated data solutions, Hurricane was able to support An Post in its transition to meet modern customs clearance challenges.
